Schirger’s main office is in Rockford, Illinois, in the historic Rockford Morning Star Building, named after the co-predecessor to Rockford’s current daily newspaper. Built in the 1920s and restored by the Morrissey family of Rockford in the late 1990s, the building boasts both art deco and classical revival elements. The building now resides on the National Register of Historic Places and is one of downtown Rockford’s premier, mixed residential and commercial spaces. Schirger occupies the top floors of the building’s west side.
Schirger also maintains an office on Main St. in Pecatonica, Illinois, population 1,800. William Schirger has maintained a law practice out of this Main St. location since 1974. Despite more than 35 years of uninterrupted operation out of this location, there still is not a sign indicating that it is a law office. When asked why there is not a sign, William responds, “I never needed one.” If you are looking for the office, you will find it next to the barbershop.
